What do I do if my child is unwell?

Please do not give your child medicines to bring to school. This is for their safety and the safety of other children.

If your child is on antibiotics or other medication and needs to have a dose during the day you will have to come into school and complete a medical form, giving permission for our staff to administer the medication. If your child is on long-term medication (e.g. for asthma) please let us know and we will discuss with you how the medication will be managed. You will need to fill in a medical form giving us relevant details.

If your child is unwell before the start of the school day please keep her/him at home and telephone to tell us.

If your child is unwell while at school she/he will be taken to the medical areas in the offices and cared for until feeling better. If he/she is not well enough to return to the class you will be contacted to come and collect him/her.

If a child has vomited or had diarrhoea they should be kept away from school for 48 hours after the last time they vomited or had diarrhoea.
