Homework

All children at Henry Maynard from Reception to Year 6 get some form of homework every week. The content of this homework varies for different year groups but will include activities such as maths problems, spellings or topic related work.

Children should try and do their homework in a calm, quiet environment, preferably sitting at a table. They may need your help but please do not do the homework for them. If your child cannot do something it is better to let us know.

Regular reading at home has a great impact on children's progress in school. For children in Nursery, Reception and KS1 the most important homework that they will do is read with you at home. If possible they should read every day! Your child could read to you or you could read to them. Talk to your child about the story that you have shared, ask them questions about the character and the plot and who their favourite character is and why.
