The children had great fun learning about electricity and circuitry: they put this into practice by making a motorized vehicle- look at it go!

Congratulations to Ruby Maddon in Year 4 (Or is that Year 5 now?!) Her story, The Unrecognised Superhero which has got to the last 2500 entries in the 500 word story competition: Black Lives Matter. We are very proud!

Our art learning at Maynard Road during January 2020 -Art and Culture Week

Autumn 2019 Year 4 created a testudo or tortoise formation which was a type of shield wall formation commonly used by the Roman Legions during battles, particularly sieges.

Art meets Maths - Addison Road

Before the half term holidays we spent a week looking at the connections between maths and art.

Each class was split into groups and tasked with designing and producing a board game that consolidated the players' mathematical skills.

In the 1st week of October 2015 Year 5 worked with local artist and parent Sean Orr and local graffiti artist Ruben Murphy to design, paint and spray the slap boards in the Addison Road playground.

Engineering and Architecture club visit to The Shard, London 11th February 2015

St Mungos Wear a Wolly Hat Day 2015 #WHD15 We raised £600 - 30th January 2015.

Year 3 visited the Hindu temple at Whipps Cross

Chess in Schools Tournament in Kensington Olympia on the 12th of December 2014. We came third overall as a school!

Year 2 have been working with local artist Sean Orr to create murals for the Maynard Road playground.

1st all the children in Year 2 planned the mural. In the 2nd half of the Autumn term the children will be completing the murals.

KS2 visit to Sky Skills Academy - December 2014

In Lego club we have been following instructions and building some amazing (and tricky Star Wars models). We have also been using our imaginations to continue to free build some amazing models which you can see displayed in the Maynard Road library.

The whole school celebrated Shakespeare Week and we based our learning about the amazing author by focusing on A Midsummer Night's Dream.

In Reception the children wrote with feather quills and some teachers acted out the play in the playground.

Instrumental Evening 2014

All the Reception classes visited Walthamstow Fire Station this term. It was very interesting and exciting because we got to have a go with the fire hose and "drive" the fire truck!

Year 4 built pyramids out of clay - starting from making individual bricks and working together to build their structure.

Reception adopted endangered animals in 2013/14 - Daisy class were inspired by their dolphin

Year 2 have published their 1st issue of the Maynard Magazine. The pupils in Year 2 researched, wrote and interviewed for the magazine. The new journalists sold the magazine for 1p on Friday to parents and pupils at Maynard Road. All money will go towards our fund raising for Singachini school. You can download the magazine below.

"The Great Exhibition" - Year 2 have been learning about great inventors and so created a Great Exhibition for parents

Some famous inventors traveled in time to be interviewed by Year 2!

Year 4 production "Up, up and away"

Lego Club

Miss Wilson and Miss Bowell ran our school's 1st Lego club during the Spring term. It was a very popular after school club and was open to Year 1 children. The club built models by following instructions as well as having the opportunity to build their own creations using lego.
